Charting the future of local governance through a Charter Commission
WHo are we?
We are a group of volunteer Fairhaven citizens committed to the democratic process of instilling a Home Rule Charter. We believe that through a charter, our local government will be strengthened because resident voices will be better heard on how they want Fairhaven to be governed. This group is apolitical, open to everyone, and encourages citizens to engage in local governance.
We need 1,725 petition signatures to place the question of having a Town Charter Commission on the 2021 voting ballot.
WHY A CHARTER NOW?
COVID-19 has brought the opportunity to be creative and learn new subject areas. One of the most important areas is our town government. Through the charter process, we are able to ring about conversations with Fairhavenites about our local government. How do we as a community want to review and make recommendations to make us feel properly heard and represented?
Join our regular meetings to discuss civic engagement, municipal governance topics, and our goal of of getting a Town Charter Commission on the ballot in 2021.
